About the Speakers

Dr. Jane Long is an experienced educator and consultant with a unique background which blends together HR and higher education.  Her expertise is in training design, development, and delivery, especially in the development and delivery of online learning. Dr. Long is also very skilled with technology, providing software training and support for numerous application software programs.  In addition, she holds a Microsoft Office Specialist certification.

Prior to working as IIMC’s Director of Professional Development, Dr. Long served as a higher education administrator for fourteen years managing faculty, curriculum, large national grants, a four-milling dollar budget, staff and faculty training and development activities, as well as the oversight and growth of online learning programs.  Dr. Long has taught both online and on campus for several colleges and universities, having developed courses in leadership, management, strategic planning, project management, career planning, and numerous software applications. Prior to her career in academia, Jane served as Vice President of a Tampa, Florida, staffing and training organization where she managed four corporate offices and two learning centers while implementing and expanding a networked integrated software system, significantly increasing productivity and profitability. Earlier, she served as an HR Generalist for a large glass manufacturer in Toledo, Ohio.

Dr. Long completed her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership at the University of Laverne. She also holds a Master of Science in Professional Leadership from the Carlow University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from the University of Toledo.

 

 

 

Jay Warren is an award winning journalist and communicator. He spent 20 years in broadcast news, the last 15 at the NBC affiliate in Roanoke, VA where he was the primary anchor and senior political reporter. While there, Jay covered all of the major stories impacting Virginia and the nation including the 9-11 attacks and the shooting massacre at Virginia Tech. His work has been recognized with a Walter Cronkite Award for Individual Achievement and national Peabody Award.

Jay, a proud graduate of TCU and Texas Tech, returned home in 2013 where he now serves at the Marketing Communications Manager for the City of Arlington and an adjunct instructor at Texas Christian University. While at the City, he has overseen the creation and launch of a new municipal brand, a new website and a new TV studio. This work has been recognized with more than a dozen state and national awards for their video production, branding, graphic design and website design.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The seminar begins at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, and ends at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27. (Thursday, October 26, the seminar runs from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with breaks and luncheon. Friday, October 27, the seminar runs from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a breaks and luncheon.) Registration includes instructional materials, two breakfasts, two luncheons, the Thursday banquet dinner, and refreshment services.

The Annual Graduate Institute Seminar features the TMCA Annual Business Meeting and TMCA Annual Banquet on October 26.

 

SPECIAL EVENTS

Annual TMCA Business Meeting

The Annual TMCA Business Meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26. All TMCA members are encouraged to attend! The half-hour meeting includes the election of 2018 TMCA officers, 2017 resolutions, and more. Join us!

A noon luncheon will follow the Business Meeting. Each seminar attendee's ticket for this luncheon is included in the cost of seminar registration. TMCA Business Meeting attendees who are not attending the Graduate Institute Seminar but who wish to attend the TMCA Business Meeting can purchase a "guest" ticket for the Thursday noon luncheon; be sure to order any guest tickets in advance.

TMCA Annual Awards Banquet

The Annual TMCA Awards Banquet will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. Join the festivities! All TMCA members and all seminar attendees are encouraged to attend this annual celebration. The event features presentation of the 2017 TMCA Municipal Clerk of the Year Award, installation of the 2018 TMCA officers, scholarship awards, recognition of 2017 retirees, and door prizes.

Each seminar attendee's ticket for this banquet is included in the cost of seminar registration. Anyone who is not attending the Graduate Institute Seminar but who wishes to attend the TMCA Awards Banquet can purchase a guest ticket for the Thursday evening banquet.

 

 

REFUND POLICY

If you are unable to attend, we encourage you to send a substitute. If you cannot send a substitute, a refund or transfer to a subsequent seminar (less a $25 processing fee) will be honored if written cancellation is received by Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
