Emotional Intelligence

This seminar will teach you more about emotional intelligence and will help you cultivate your “EQ.” Emotional intelligence is important for today's public managers. By increasing your levels of emotional intelligence, you can be a better leader and gain a strong framework for ethical decision-making.

Emotionally intelligent employees make better decisions because they:

  • Use emotions in a positive way to improve situations
  • See things clearly when feelings are overpowering
  • Make good, solid decisions even when they are angry
  • Balance their thoughts and their feelings
  • Do not let strong emotions blind them

Emotionally intelligent employees are able to change plans to meet the need of the moment; they consider a variety of possible actions before making decisions; and they are able to come up with alternative plans as they consider the reactions of others involved.

Emotionally intelligent employees have the potential to demonstrate ethical behavior because of their high levels of self-awareness. They are able to see things clearly even when emotions are high.

Emotionally intelligent employees are strong leaders in any organization because they are aware of their own emotions and they have the ability to express and control their emotions. They also recognize, understand, and influence the emotions of others.
